How It Calculates
The calculator uses the Harris-Benedict formula to estimate your Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR), which is then multiplied by an activity factor to get your daily calorie needs.
The formula varies by gender:
- Male: BMR = 66 + (13.7 * weight) + (5 * height) – (6.8 * age)
- Female: BMR = 655 + (9.6 * weight) + (1.8 * height) – (4.7 * age)
Based on your activity level, the BMR is multiplied by a factor ranging from 1.2 (sedentary) to 1.9 (super active).
