    Potential Spaying Risks

    Spaying risks vary by the age at which surgery is carried out, as well as by breed of dog, and can include:

    • Urinary incontinence

    • Obesity

    • Cruciate ligament rupture

    • Other joint disease

    • Various cancers (esp.

      Rottweilers + osteosarcoma)

    • Autoimmune disease

    As for whether these downsides outweigh the benefits, that is up to you, but something I discuss in more detail after diving into these possible side-effects.

    Over the last few years we have started to understand that there are other downsides to being spayed than traditionally thought.
